About Balham

A very distinct neighbourhood popular with families and young professionals, Balham is centred on Balham High Road lined with cafés, bars, restaurants and independent shops. There are also two large supermarkets, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, each with large car parks. An attractive residential area, the housing is mostly comprised of Victorian terraced houses, but one of its highlights is the distinctive 1930s block of Art Deco flats called Du Cane Court. The nightlife is lively and based around both contemporary bars and old school pubs.

Adjacent to Clapham, Wandsworth and Tooting Commons there is access to a huge amount of green space, sporting amenities including tennis courts and Tooting Bec Lido, Europe’s largest open-air pool.
