About Battersea

Battersea is a popular residential area in south west London between Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. Battersea’s vibrant and lively main roads are packed with a wide range of shops, restaurants and bars. On weekends in the summer, Northcote Road is closed to traffic, and restaurants and bars spill out onto the pedestrianised zone. Battersea’s green open spaces are at the heart of the family community. The highlight is Battersea Park, a magnet for families, dog walkers and joggers.

Away from the hustle and bustle, Batterseas quiet streets are lined with Victorian and Edwardian family homes. The schools are some of the best in London, making the area popular with families and earning Battersea the nickname ‘Nappy Valley’.

The excellent transport links and fashionable new developments draw young professionals to the area. The transformation of Battersea Power Station and the new Riverside Quarter has provided 4,000 new homes. There are also numerous other new-build developments in the area.

Northcote Road, Lavender Hill, St John’s Hill, St John’s Road, Battersea Rise and Battersea Park Road are crammed with shops, coffee shops and restaurants, many of them independents. Our favourites near our Battersea Office are Numero Uno, an authentic Italian run restaurant, VE Kitchen, providing vegan comfort food and The Bolingbroke, a relaxed bar and dining room.

The Battersea Power Station development is now open with a host of new eateries and shops along its grand pedestrian high street and waterfront. There are currently 28 restaurants, bars and coffee shops, with more opening in 2023. Battersea Power Station is a great place to enjoy brunch, dinner or sunset cocktails on the riverfront.

Battersea has an excellent selection of schools, which makes it a highly sought-after for families who want to settle there.

Battersea has two mainline stations. Battersea Park Station with trains to London Victoria and Queenstown Road Station offering direct access to Waterloo. Clapham Junction is just a short walk from Battersea offering connections on the London Overground, Southwestern Trains and Southern Trains network. Gatwick Airport is only 40 minutes away. Meanwhile, the bus network extends to Streatham and Chelsea with connections at Clapham Junction that take you all over London.

Battersea offers easy access to outside space unrivalled across the capital. Battersea Park is one of the loveliest green spaces in London. There is a boating lake, children’s zoo and playgrounds as well as cafes, an art gallery, adventure golf and Go Ape. Enjoy leisurely strolls along the Thames, picnics on the lawns, and the serenity of the Peace Pagoda. Clapham and Wandsworth Commons are nearby, both are home to several sporting clubs, tennis courts and playgrounds.

Northcote Road Market is also a renowned culinary hotspot and the perfect place to visit. Residents can savour artisanal delights, shop for unique finds, and soak up the lively atmosphere of this bustling market street.

There is a thriving cultural scene in Battersea. Battersea Arts Centre is a leading fringe theatre in a handsome grade II listed building. The Cinema in The Arches is the ultimate experience for film lovers with super comfy seats and state of the art sound.

Finally, you can witness the transformation of the iconic Battersea Power Station. This iconic and unmistakeable redevelopment introduces a dynamic mix of shops, restaurants, and cultural spaces. Residents can explore this urban hub, attend events, and indulge in world-class dining at their doorstep.
